Intuition is an independent driving school run by Julian Eggar, an experienced DVSA Approved ('A' Grade DVSA) Driving Instructor with 10 years teaching experience. The previous owner was Steve Hammerton (sadly now retired), also an A Grade Driving Instructor with a background as a Metropolitan Police response driver.
All driving lessons follow the DVSA recommended structured tuition programme, leading to a safe, competent, defensive driving style as required by the DVSA practical driving test. Lessons are adapted to suit the learning style of individual pupils.
Several pupils who have Dyslexia and Dyspraxia have passed the Practical Driving Test with Intuition. The philosophy being that only when the pupil is satisfied with their progress, will they go onto the next level to suit their burgeoning ability.
Tuition is conducted on a strictly one to one basis, with an outline strategy at the start and a review/debrief at the conclusion to assess progress. Julian regards one and a half hour sessions as the most valuable way of consolidating progress and they can start/end at your home address, college or local place of work. One hour is regarded as too short and least cost effective whilst two hours is too long due to concentration factors for both pupil and instructor!
Instruction is conducted in the renowned Ford Fiesta, a compact car that adapt easily to all heights. It is remarkably easy to drive and manoeuvre. It comes with dual controls, air conditioning, SatNav and electric everything!
Due to Budgetary constraints manual tuition is only available in Intuition Driving cars, however if automatic tuition is required and a pupil has their own car, that can be possible.
Most students choose ‘Intuition’ following recommendations from the many previously satisfied customers, epitomized recently when a mother and then both her daughters all went on to pass their tests first time.
Pupils have been taught from a selection of colleges and schools such as Esher College, Hinchley Wood, Rydens (now Three Rivers), Tolworth Girls, Southborough, Hollyfield , Tiffin Boys & Girls, KGS, Reeds, Surbiton High, Claremont Fan Court, Hampton, Guildford Grammar and Girls Schools and many others.
In addition Julian taught all three of his children, understanding the frustration that many parents have in teaching their kids to drive!
Tuition is not confined to new learners, but includes refreshers and specialist instruction following an accident, illness, driving ban or non U.K. drivers taking their driving test here. The eldest pupil to date was 83 and the youngest a few weeks after his seventeenth Birthday. in 2018 five pupils from the same school all passed at the first attempt and received nine faults between them all (maximum allowed per person is 15 per test!)
